Third Space Office with Child Care

I have designed a ‘third space’ which includes an office that can be hired by businesses or individuals and a childcare centre; this includes a nursery area suitable for children from 6 months up to 4 years (primary school age). This will be mainly used by the office space users’ children. The building that this is designed in is the O & M sheds, Welsh Back, Bristol which is on the harbour side of Bristol. While designing the office space, the sun orientation around the site was taken into account, allowing the natural light in. I have also taken inspiration from nature and the natural environment found around the site. These spaces have become more mainstream as a result of the pandemic as more people continue to work from home, either because their offices have closed or simply by choice.
